I.S.E.O SUMMERSCHOOL 5TH EDITION: A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE

An incredible edition of the I.S.E.O summerschool ended on the 28th of June: 70 students coming from 23 different Country and 51 universities spread in the world were absolutely enthusiastic about the terrific experience they had in Iseo, both participating to interesting and stimulating lectures and enjoying Italy as well.
 
The extraordinary panel of speakers who run the lectures to students has been highly appreciated by everyone: Prof. Robert Solow, Nobel Laureate 1987 and chairman of the I.S.E.O Institute, who always chaires the summerschool and enjoy spending his time chatting with students, Prof. Thomas Schelling (Nobel laureate 2001) who joined our summerschool for the first time, Prof. Richard Ernst (Nobel Laureate for Chemistry 1991) who has been applauded for several minutes for his wonderful lecture, and Prof. Mike Spence (Nobel Laureate in Economics 2001).
 
Beyond them a great group of international economists: Prof. Richard Layard, world-wide known for being the founder and director of the Lse Centre for Economic Performance, Prof. Robert Wescott a close friend of ISEO who has been economic advisor for the former USA President Clinton, Prof. Dennis Snower who is the chairman of one of the most prestigious centre for economic researches namely the Kiel Institute for world Economy, Prof. Tito Boeri, well-known professor at Bocconi University in Milan and prof. Mario Baldassarri , member of the Italian Parliament, former deputy Minister of the Economic affairs and professor at La Sapienza University in Rome.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE I.S.E.O SUMMERSCHOOL

Since its first edition in 2004, the I.S.E.O summer school aims at bringing together 80 graduate students coming from the most important world university to improve their knowledge in economics. The location of the course is really lovely: Iseo is a little town on a very romantic lake in Northern Italy, not very far from Milan.
 
Classes are held by Nobel Laureates in Economics and outstanding American and European instructors. In 7 days 80 graduate students, chosen according to their cv and academic experiences, get deep into the most relevant aspects of the European and world economy with a particular attention to the welfare state and unemployment.
 
The course has a comparative perspective, therefore every subject compares the US and European economies. Moreover every lesson combines a theoretical lecture with a highly interesting debate on the topics discussed during the lessons, sharing different opinions and beliefs with the Nobel Laureates themselves.
 
During their staying on Iseo lake, students are hosted in a wonderful location (4 star hotel on the beach of the lake, a big park with swimming pools, tennis, basket, volley and other amenities) and have the chance to visit the most beautiful cities in Northern Italy such as Venice, Cremona, Bergamo and the famous vineyards of Franciacorta.
 
The fee requested to attend the course amounts to 2.200 € but we award scholarship amounting to 1.500 €, so that enrolled students have just to pay the remaining 700 €.
 
The fee includes full board staying in a 4 star hotel, visits, local transportations and obviously the course and the material. In order to apply, students shall download the application form and, once filled in, send it to the email address summerschool@istiseo.org together with their curriculum vitae.
